Well, Chelsea are no longer the Champions of Europe. Real Madrid defeated Liverpool for the Champions League trophy, Saturday evening. There won’t be any sympathy nor empathy for the Reds from Blues fans, with no love to lose. And the CFC support will be pleased and confident by remaining the last UCL winners from England. And the promise of similar ownership to Roman Abramovich’s all-encompassing style is viable. That is if the Todd Boehly-Clearlake Capital consortium are honest in their intentions to remain a powerful club; all indications feel very good in respect of the incoming owner.

While the centre of defence needs at least two high profile, even marquee signings, we can expect other areas to be strengthened. If Romelu Lukaku is sold, capturing another target striker shall be a necessity. Should Timo Werner or Christian Pulisic depart, there would naturally be a definite place for potential new man Ousmane Dembele on the wing. The future of one of the best defensive midfielders to ever compete, France’s N’golo Kante, is in doubt. Along with the possibility of fellow ‘DM’ Jorginho, from Italy, also leaving Stamford Bridge. There will have to be some very competent midfield additions to replace the anchoring pair.

Yet, up to four defenders joining this summer might swallow up a large portion of the suspected £200million transfer budget, if targets are notables. There is always the chance that young starlets such as Huddersfield Town loanee Levi Colwill make their presence known. Not to mention the Premier League-proven Conor Gallagher.

Colwill, a left-footed CB, is also wanted by Leicester City and West Ham United. There are huge hopes for his future on Fulham Road from particularly in-the-know reporters, pundits and fans. Though the 19-year-old admits he won’t ‘close the door on Huddersfield‘. Gallagher, meanwhile, plies trade as a more advancing player in the middle; again, the formerly temporary Crystal Palace competitor is expected to make waves at the Bridge upon his return as well.

Another wanted man for Chelsea is AS Monaco’s Aurelien Tchouameni. However, ‘in the last hours’ Real Madrid made strides to secure a deal; only negotiating a fee is left for completion of Tchouameni’s move. A further wanted athlete set to be out of the grasp of the West Londoners is RC Lens wing-back Jonathan Clauss. CFC are said to be ‘keeping a close eye‘ on the Atletico Madrid star; manager Thomas Tuchel has followed Clauss’ career of late.

Previously mentioned and seemingly out of favour forward, Lukaku, apparently switched agents recently and shall seek a return to Inter Milan after a torrid campaign with the Blues. That is according to a claim made in an ‘exclusive’ from Caught Offside.

The outlet suggest the Belgium hitman now has an “independent lawyer” as his representative, following a split from Italian agency P&P. A comeback in Italy could suit both parties; which is not an assertion that the Antwrep-born player is incapable in the Premier League. Does he have the quality to eventually lead the Blues line successfully? Yes, but Tuchel’s system feels unsuitable for Lukaku in other respects.
