Chelsea confident of completing Sterling transfer as low price revealed

While no significant transfers have been made for the senior Chelsea side at present, rumours are increasing in frequency. In addition, there is more certainty in assertions from the most reliable sources whom Pride of London rely on for information. Basically, talk is growing. And that amplification only really occurs when something tangible is in the pipeline, generally. Obviously there are occasionally under-the-radar switches happening. Though, with the higher profile clubs, being covert appears far more difficult. Leaking is a reality. Nevertheless, it is highly probable a prominent move or two to Stamford Bridge edge closer.

As usual, PoL consulted Absolute Chelsea to discover the very latest apparent updates in the Blues sphere. Wolverhampton Wanderers left wingback Rayan Ait-Nouri was mentioned again on Saturday. Supposedly, the Frenchman is a target for CFC this summer due to Marcos Alonso’s possibly pending exit. He would be a good addition to the roster as backup to Ben Chilwell. Regardless of that, the intension of the valuation is to scare away potential suitors – which I fully expect to happen here.

Barcelona’s polarising asset is, invariably, a more difficult person to assess. It is therefore harder to predict whether paying his, undoubtedly, eye-watering wages is the right choice for the Blues. Marquee names come for marquee money. And no signing fees being paid to Barca makes an agreement more feasible, as I see it. If only one or the other can arrive on Fulham Road, I would select Sterling.

OK, the previous paragraph offers us a neat segue on to the final topic of discussion: the Manchester City winger. A purportedly on sale Sterling. In fact, Chels’ could acquire the Englishman for a very reasonable £35m, as per transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio.

But before supporters get too excited about the cheap seeming cost, another report from Sky Sports states £60m is a more realistic asking price. Somewhere between those two figures would be my estimate, as there is only one year remaining on his existing Man City contract.

While the wingman from LaLiga remains a fine alternative to his counterpart, Sterling is a proven Premier League goalscorer and facilitator. The latter is comparably superior to the elite Spanish division, though that is not to say they are not competitive. Neither am I claiming that Dembele would not be a success in the EPL.

Statistically there is a similarity between the pair, yet Sterling far exceeds in the telling numbers produced. Stylistically, les Bleus’ representative is a more accomplished dribbler than the Three Lions attacker. Whereas, the former Liverpool man favours the one-two involving thoughtful linkup play and gets into goalscoring positions.

Alternately, Dembele’s preference is supplying assist to his teammates. Both athletes are absolutely rapid. There is a chance that Sterling’s experience at pressing would suit Tuchel. Which player would you rather at the Bridge? tell PoL via Twitter.
