4. Nathan Baxter

Nathan Baxter played in the Championship for Hull City last season. He made 18 appearances and piled up seven clean sheets. Those performances toward the end of the season have impressed the Tigers so much that they are now trying to bring back the 23-year-old. There’s only a year left on his Chelsea contract, so Baxter’s future is in doubt as things stand.

It is still not known whether Hull City would get to buy Baxter or just bring him in on loan for another season if the two sides find a solution to the talks. Some reports say Hull City has been ‘given encouragement’ over a potential transfer and the club is likely to continue its pursuit in the hope of striking an agreement, whether that be on loan again or for a permanent deal. If Chelsea manages to sell Arrizabalaga somehow, the club could keep him as a back-up goalkeeper, but what most likely is going to happen is that he will be given a new contract and then sent out on loan for another season. If not, he might even be sold for a small fee.

Verdict: Loan (with new contract)

5. Jamie Cumming

Jamie Cumming had a very bag of a season. In the first half of the season at Gillingham FC, he played 22 games in which he conceded 31 goals and only kept four clean sheets. However, after the January transfer window, his loan at Gillingham was terminated and he was loaned out to MK Dons, who was contesting for promotion with him between the sticks.

While Gillingham got relegated to League Two, Cumming’s performance improved at MK Dons. He made 21 appearances and conceded only 14 goals. Cumming managed to keep nine clean sheets and helped MK Dons finish in the promotion play-off spots, only to lose in the semifinal to Wycombe Wanderers. His contract expires at the end of next season, so the club will have to make a decision regarding his future relatively soon. I think Cumming will be allowed to run his contract down and eventually leave for free, but the club should look to sell the player for a small fee.

Verdict: Sell
