1. Armando Broja departure?

One of the many young Chelsea players attracting interest from clubs around the globe is the aforementioned forward, Broja. The 20-year-old Blues striker went on loan to Southampton last season and enjoyed a good campaign, to say the least, scoring nine goals in 38 appearances across all competitions. His performances have impressed the likes of Newcastle United—who recently made a formal inquiry about the player—Napoli, Everton, Southampton, and West Ham United. Out of all these teams, the one with the most concrete interest is that of West Ham as Broja is said to be the priority signing for manager David Moyes this summer.

Brief negotiations are currently ongoing for the Albanian international, but are said to be in very early stages. According to Gianluca DiMarzio, Broja is the first target for West Ham as a new striker and the fee could be around £30 million, if a deal does materialize.

Now, this is a very difficult decision for the Blues to make as they lack depth in the striker’s department following Lukaku’s departure. But Broja doesn’t seem like someone who would get much time to play right now under Thomas Tuchel. Yes, Broja will play for the club simply due to the fact that Chelsea will compete in multiple competitions and the recent rule that allows for the usage of five substitutes in Premier League games. However, if Broja is looking to start matches week in and week out, that is something that would not be possible in SW6 right now.

In the end, it is said that no definite decision will be taken on Broja’s future until Tuchel assesses him in pre-season training. Chelsea will definitely play hardball when it comes to the negotiations while selling Broja, especially if the Irons are involved. Alas, dealing with West Ham could open the door for any Declan Rice negotiations too. Either way, Chelsea has the upper hand in these discussions as things stand. This situation will become more clear as time goes on.
