Ben Chilwell and Christian Pulisic have appeared on Complex‘s YouTube channel to do an England versus America style back and forth interview. The angle here is an early attempt at build-up to the Three Lions taking on the United States at the World Cup. With the pair naturally playing for either national side along with the West Londoners. The fashionable media outlet cover topics such as music, style, pop culture, sports, ‘life’ and sneakers. There were loads of very interesting subject, and the responses were equally entertaining and enlightening.
Discussions in the so-called ‘GOAT talk’ session – the acronym stands for greatest of all time, and is no longer only suitable to singular entities as I see it – ranged from their all-time favourite “hype” song, goal celebrations, sneakers and “WC” memories. That last one means World Cup, again, as opposed to water closet. According to ‘Chilly’, his GOAT colleague is Mason Mount. Although the former Leicester City star says this news will annoy some people – God knows why – he states that they ‘hangout regularly’. Chilwell didn’t seem too familiar with USA heroes Clint Dempsey and Landon Donovan, but jokingly mentioned Pulisic being a “pretty good footballer”.
Chelsea’s Chilwell reveals EPL club he supported growing up
On his most admired Chels’ legend, Chilwell named ex-Blue Ashley Cole. Cole invited the recruit for a chat at his house when CFC signed him. Meanwhile the American captain nominated ‘super’ Frank Lampard as his Chelsea icon. Pulisic chose N’golo Kante as most-liked companion at Stamford Bridge; which is no shock because Kante is pretty much the best support anyone could have in the game.
One last point which may surprise the Faithful, is that Chilwell used to support Manchester United. Well, he might still be a fan of United – that aspect was not clarified. Though the Milton Keynes-born man claimed that the love affair began during his childhood; anyone can be forgiven for boyhood mistakes. The funny thing here is that Luke Shaw, a current Red Devil, is supposedly a Chels fan. This led to some social media users from both fan bases suggesting a swap between Shaw and his Three Lions friend. If the passion is there, perhaps that isn’t such a bad idea.
In other news, it looks like Marco Cucurella will be joining the Blues. The flying leftback/wingback is a slightly expensive yet fine addition to the CFC squad. I am not too sure that the signing from Brighton & Hove Albion has been made to sit on the substitute’s bench and watch on: the Spain international has far more likely been added to the roster to push his English counterpart.
In my opinion, the challenge to the 25-year-old’s monopoly as starting left-sided player is under threat from his soon-to-be teammate. Having watched Cucurella closely last season and as Foxes of Leicester editor, I feel I have partially unique insight into this one. Chilwell must watch out for the Spaniard as there may be a new first choice emerging on Fulham Road. I rate the CFC player, yet this is a rival for his club place.
