Big update regarding Chelsea’s de Jong and Fofana pursuits
Chelsea supporters have been given some interesting insights into Thomas Tuchel’s preseason methods, to begin with. The German maestro actually offered up information himself in an interview with SoccerAM, which can be viewed on YouTube. Candid and open as ever, the Blues head coach typically did not shy away from explaining his offseason style. Starting with cardiovascular work, he says he and his staff “get them running”, meaning the CFC squad are put through their paces. However, Tuchel also favours constant work with the ball; he aims to instil his playing philosophy and “principles” whilst the season gets underway.
Yet the most fascinating part of the chat with the sports show was the enlightening, as well as inspiring, details about elite group mentality. As if dealing with imaginary or past issues or successes with team unity, the former Paris Saint-Germain boss explained that if a collective suffer together as one, they will build the necessary togetherness needed to achieve. He noted that practising in the cold, hill running, tough mountain biking and further exhausting running all contribute to hating the gaffer – but growth, strength, along with camaraderie often occur. Well, doesn’t that make you want to get up out of your seat, go for a jog, then join a local sports side?!
Chelsea closer to signing Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong than Leicester City defender Wesley Fofana
Now Pride of London can get to the latest captivating speculation over arguably the two most wanted Blues targets, at least amongst fan base: Frenkie de Jong and Wesley Fofana. We refer to Ben Jacobs for apparent news in this instance. And, as you can see below in the tweet below, the CBS reporter had something very significant to say on Twitter, Wednesday.
So, Jacobs declares that, from their own perspective, CFC consider a possible deal for the Barca man at a more advanced stage. Obviously the English outfit has been in endless contact with the Spaniards for the last few months over many players.
With respect to de Jong, an answer should emerge within a couple of days. Though ‘FdJ’ doesn’t want to take a pay cut to remain at Camp Nou; although he favours staying with Blaugrana in general. Whereas Fofana does want to leave Leicester, according to Jacobs; while Todd Boehly wishes for direct talks with LCFC hierarchy over add-ons etcetera.
Adding the two players this piece is concerned with to the roster feels essential: the Dutchman and Frenchman could both be described as the ‘missing pieces’ in their respective positions. And I believe they would propel Chels’ back towards the level of quality required in the contemporary quest for Premier League glory.
However, a striker is still needed, as I see it. If a centreforward like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – but not necessarily Aubameyang – isn’t signed, the gap between CFC, Manchester City and Liverpool shall not yet decrease. Kai Havertz is capable, and Armando Broja deserves a chance as a central attacker, but incompleteness remains.
