The Chelsea rumour mill is churning out some interesting speculation at present; yet chatter is more believable this year due to the scatter gun appearing approach by the Blues. Todd Boehly and partners’ aim was to immediately enable CFC to challenge for the Premier League once again, so he and Clearlake Capital are attempting to put their money where their mouths are. A statement transfer window was required – and, in the face of competition on all fronts from superclub Barcelona, it may just turn out to be epic. Marquee additions are all very well, but Thomas Tuchel unavoidably requires the correct signings, like completing a jigsaw puzzle.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Wesley Fofana and Anthony Gordon seem to be prioritised at the moment, certainly in the media. Another incoming is to be expected in Inter Milan midfielder Cesare Casadei. Though the young Casadei will not be rushed into competitive top-flight action for a while, presumably. Aubameyang is a maybe, surely; he might perhaps want out of Barca because of the arrival of Robert Lewandowski. Whilst Gordon apparently wants to join Chels’, which is a promising development, even if he doesn’t end up coming this offseason. Having the finest talent still admiring the club is a big positive. Leicester City won’t alter their Wesley Fofana price, for anybody.

The four Chelsea players all wanted by Newcastle United

Meanwhile, as the West London side chase reinforcements of their own, other EPL teams are eyeing Blues assets. According to journalist Nabil Djellit, Manchester United ‘are ready to make a move for Hakim Ziyech’, and that will transpire before September. Ziyech is undoubtedly talented, but, as with Timo Werner, something just didn’t translate to personal success or growth at Stamford Bridge.

Maybe a move to a different league in Europe is a better suited switch. I know most CFC supporters would be displeased if the Moroccan went to a division rival. The fan base would generally prefer to see him less often, and avoid the inevitable goal against former club for as long as possible. An outcome remains to be seen, although the winger is obviously seeking more minutes – or any game time at all.

While Ziyech’s future is still unresolved, four of Tuchel’s players are said to have caught the eye of Newcastle’s steady but accumulative recruitment department. The quartet are: Christian Pulisic, Armando Broja, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Conor Gallagher, claims Luke Edwards of The Telegraph.

Starting with Pulisic, Chels would be daft to let him go, especially to a team who realistically shall soon be challenging for every honour available. ‘Captain America’ very much has something to prove in the EPL – and PoL would much rather that be on Fulham Road.

Hudson-Odoi is another I rate; I am aware that I am in the minority among Blues supporters in this instance. Nevertheless, I envision the versatile athlete finding his feet elsewhere. Therefore it’d be better to mature at Chelsea. One more chance?

Gallagher is very close to being involved in the German boss’s first team plans; we all witnessed loan approaches being batted away. With N’golo Kante facing a spell on the sidelines, the Englishman is going nowhere. Broja will probably sign a new deal – Tuchel is a fan. The promise of further appearances must be made to a man in demand.
