Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic’s future is now more clear
Following a sobering 3-0 defeat against a team that recently struggled, the last thing Chelsea players need is a minority of their own fan base attacking them on social media. Along with the visceral appearing hate from doom mongers and those with nothing better to do bombarding the club’s accounts. The fact that some of these ‘supporters’ suggest that head coach Thomas Tuchel is inept at his job after being crowed European and World Champions in the last year or so, is, frankly, laughable. I can assure the more measured members of the faithful that the German is going nowhere.
Remembering that the Blues are currently involved in an intense and lengthy rebuild and rebrand transition under different ownership would help. An important and positive side note is that Roman Abramovich’s ambition and investment shall be almost identically mirrored by the Boehly-Clearlake group. Good times are ahead – though patience is required. Everyone knows the CFC team is also drastically reshaping; expecting an immediate and absolutely seamless blend into a fully functional and efficient side overnight or a fortnight is unrealistic. Say 2022/23 is a mediocre Chels’ season, for example, support suffer through it, but then the subsequent campaigns bring trophies galore – I think the fans would survive.
Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic’s future now appears to be clearer
Retaining your best and most dangerous assets is a part of strengthening any club; I maintain that Christian Pulisic has something to offer the Premier League and his productivity may explode at some stage. Now, outfits with similar contemporary standing as the Blues are apparently hovering over the American, such as Newcastle United and Manchester United. Thus, when he eventually reaches potential, that scenario would be better had at Stamford Bridge!
While observers make quite demanding suggestions concerning the need for a quality right winger, I think they and Tuchel might perhaps be overlooking ‘Captain America’. Only with the trust of his manager – in the form of starts and increased game time – can a player show a true reflection of his skill set and possible consistency in the world’s finest and most testing division.
Even whilst briefly looking at Pulisic’s output statistics, the Champions League in this instance as the competition offers great difficulty too, it is apparent that he has pedigree. Just for Chelsea, the 23-year-old has made 21 CL appearances over three terms and supplied five goals as well as five assists in that period. Which is a stunning return.
Not everyone will agree with me that Pulisic will make it at Chelsea properly as an ‘undroppable’, though his actual future seems more settled, as per a report on Monday. Hakim Ziyech is likely leaving, with Fabrizio Romano saying the Moroccan has now had a meeting with Ajax director Klaas-Jan Huntelaar. And as the transfer window is expiring rapidly, the USA man is probably needed.
Most notably, journalist Florian Plettenberg proclaims Pulisic’s exit from the club unlikely; maybe Tuchel has changed his mind. The former declares that no swap deals are planned. In addition, an offer from Man United hasn’t materialised; the Red Devils have supposedly turned their attention to Antony, who is also of the Dutch team.
