Hello, and welcome to The Pride of London on this Friday afternoon. Let’s begin this brief article by looking at an almost sure-to-be new Chelsea signing. This is another for the future, so don’t get your hopes up for that marquee addition or two just yet. The Blues are currently circling with clubs such as Real Madrid and Manchester City for the signature of young Dynamo Moscow midfielder Arsen Zakharyan. Zakharyan can also feature on either wing, giving him the added bonus of versatility. Adaptability is clearly a key component of Thomas Tuchel’s style, when winning or losing.

Having four international caps at the age of 19 shows an obvious pedigree and a precocious nature. Last season, the Russian professional featured in 34 Dynamo matches, meaning he is gaining lots of experience and trust at a particularly young age. He managed to contribute nine goals and nine assists over the course of the campaign, in all competitions. These attributes of scoring and facilitating always make for the hottest prospects seeking the big time, and Zakharyan is considered one of the brightest talents in Russia. CFC is apparently close to completing a £12.6million transfer.

Chelsea attacker Kai Havertz makes bold statement that the contemporary Blues are not finished as a team

An appraisal for the Blues’ transfer window still hangs in the balance, come September, Pride of London shall offer our judgement on business conducted. Away from the market, the Chels’ side is not firing on all cylinders, at all. The initial victory against Everton at Goodison Park concealed Tuchel’s on-pitch issues somewhat. More accurately, the scoreline, at least, hid problems.

Yet if you keenly watched the game, you will have seen that all was not well in the XI. This is something that sufficient incomings and outgoings will change in an evolutionary period. Though, as the industrious Leeds United highlighted, some of the Blues must offer more and put their absolute all into each and every outing.

If you were under the impression that Chelsea had given up or did not remain a tight unit, Kai Havertz disagrees. The German quite defiantly and earnestly insisted that the men at Stamford Bridge “are not finished as a team”. The Champions League-winning goalscorer seems to also want to prove people wrong who suggest he can’t lead the line or that he is overrated. Listen to Havertz on the below tweet.

Furthermore, Havertz states that he is happy to play in any role necessary, and always gives everything. Whilst he admits that criticism derived from a lack of goals and assists does not necessarily mean an athlete played badly. During the extended interview clips, the 23-year-old refreshingly shows humour and an understanding of English culture.

A measurably fluid front three is an aspect which is not reality at present on Fulham Road. Raheem Sterling, Mason Mount and the aforementioned false-nine are a Premier League-competent bunch, there is no doubting that. Yet I believe adding a specialist, proven striker to the mix as well as possibly rearranging Havertz and Mount’s positions slightly could develop into an explosion of fortune.

Is Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang that missing link? Maybe. The situation will be fascinating to see unravel, should the Gabonese athlete join CFC.
