Chelsea at Dinamo Zagreb: Champions League betting guide
By Mike Malley
The Croatian champions did rely on a 4-2 aggregate victory over Bodo/Glimt to qualify for the UCL group stage and are understandably massive underdogs on Tuesday at +600 odds on the moneyline. There aren’t too many results that would surprise me on an energetic European night, though.
Zagreb will be confident in finding the back of the net, particularly playing in front of its own fans at the Stadion Maksimir. The Modri have scored at least twice in every home match barring the Croatian Super Cup, totaling an incredible 29 in nine so far this season. Chelsea’s struggles at the back have also been well-documented through the team’s first six games, with the Blues possessing the second-worst defensive record in the top half of the Premier League, leading me to believe we’ll see goals flying in on both sides. The both teams to score prop has been a solid play for me over the past few weeks, and at -110 odds, it’s looking pretty appealing.
I’m very interested to see Tuchel’s team selection to face Zagreb with so many inconsistent performances from the Blues’ top players to start the campaign. Dropping Mason Mount, Kai Havertz, and Jorginho against the Hammers were big calls by the German tactician, and at least his compatriot responded with the winning goal after being subbed on in the 72’.
