Pride of London discuss Chelsea news, offer views and assess a rumour as the Blues supposedly missed out on Manchester United winger Anthony. Todd Boehly has also explained his Thomas Tuchel decision, and Graham Potter apparently wants to sign Harry Kane.
Potter’s start at Chelsea was unideal but no disaster. This transition will take time so it is certainly best for Blues supporters to be as patient as possible. Drawing with RB Salzburg at Stamford Bridge is a poor result for CFC, of course. However, I feel it is important that the fan base continues to support the new head coach and not be too reactionary, with all due respect.
First games are never easy for managers taking charge of a different and more demanding side which must adapt. Judging Potter properly at end of season would be my advice. Let’s see how the season develops. Don’t forget that some Chels’ players are truly underperforming and that is a glaring issue.
Chelsea missed out on Antony, Todd Boehly on Thomas Tuchel dismissal, Graham Potter wants Harry Kane
We move onto a roundup now. First of all, there is a report suggesting the west Londoners were foiled in their attempts to acquire the latest Man United star, Antony. Former Chelsea scout Piet de Visser revealed that a potential move to the club ultimately failed to materialise.
Recently, de Visser said that he had his eye on the Brazilian before he moved to Ajax, and would have loved to bring the winger to Fulham Road. If you ask me, Antony may have provided what is currently missing on the right side of the Blues attack. Was his £86million fee justifiable? We can’t answer that question yet. Though with market prices still inflated, he might perhaps become a great United signing.
Some Chels fans are still upset or confused with regard to the sacking of Thomas Tuchel. Well, PoL completely understand that position, but feel it is best to move on because we are never going to return to the past and have much to look forward to.
Meanwhile Todd Boehly outlined another reason for the German’s departure. Aside from reportedly disagreeing on matters such as Wesley Fofana unnecessarily flying to America for a medical, Boehly says they were simply not aligned. More precisely, the American added that the ownership group wished for a head coach that shared their vision.
Finally we get to an intriguing piece of speculation concerning rival Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur. Potter is apparently eyeing up Harry Kane as a transfer target.
According to a story on football.london’s website, the former Brighton & Hove Albion gaffer will be after the England captain, but only if CFC can offload Romelu Lukaku in the summer. Kane would be a fabulous addition to the Chelsea roster – any roster in fact. If a deal can be agreed, it definitely has PoL’s blessing.
