Chelsea are apparently open to selling Christian Pulisic for a rather low fee. Pride of London offer opinion and insight into the American’s situation.

Pulisic cost the Blues a reported £57.6million a few years back. The player’s evident promise – and hype, at the time – was undeniable. Though he has not lived up to that fanfare, whatever way you look at his overall time at Stamford Bridge.

Now, I am not necessarily suggesting that the 24-year-old is at fault for his currently underwhelming Premier League profile. The scenario could have been caused by a lack of chances beginning first team games. Clearly the lesser amount of total minutes is an issue most likely out of the USA captain’s hands, unless he underperforms in training, which we wouldn’t know.

Irrespective of the past, the talent is there, so looking ahead is most suitable for the winger. A new head coach is of course in place, offering a fresh start for Pulisic. While this standing sort of leaves ‘CP’ in limbo as a formerly top rated prospect with many qualities, CFC would be unwise to offload him in January.

Only a very poor first half of the season would warrant Pulisic’s sale at the low price that is in the media. Chelsea will supposedly listen to offers of around £31.5m for the Hershey-born player, with Newcastle United and Leeds United said to be interested.

Kalidou Koulibaly on winning back his Chelsea starting place

Koulibaly was not selected by new Chels’ head coach Graham Potter for the first match of the former Brighton & Hove Albion boss’s first Blues clash, a Champions League Group Stage contest. Chelsea drew the RB Salzburg match, disappointingly for supporters. Yet the Senegalese has vowed to return to the XI. In addition, the imposing centreback praised Potter in spite of the snub.

Speaking to Le Quotidien, Koulibaly said the 47-year-old arrived at Cobham with some solid tactical ideas in training and is a “real” coach. The defender was also impressed with Potter’s efforts at Amex Stadium. However, the ex-Napoli man wants to prove to the Englishman that he should be in the team and promises to be back.
