Chelsea predicted XI vs Wolves: 3-4-3 works quite well
Thiago Silva (No. 6) Centerback, Brazil
Chelsea was on top of Milan for the majority of the game, though it’s not reflected in the possession count (51%). Silva’s passing wasn’t great, completing 83% of his passes. He stepped in with some key tackles and blocks, but he has definitely had better games in a Chelsea shirt.
Marc Cucurella (No. 32) Left centerback, Spain
Cucurella has been absent from the last two games due to illness. He looked lively and very much un-ill in the video Chelsea posted this afternoon, and if he’s fit, he’s likely to slot in for the Senegal captain at left centerback. It’s easy to see why Potter wants him in there. He’s very good in decision-making, and he has superb technique.
Ben Chilwell (No. 21) Left wingback, England
Chilwell was good against Milan. He made five passes into the final third, created two chances, and completed all three of his crosses. He also won a whopping 9/14 duels. Many complained about his passing after the game, but people always see what they want and find something to complain about. This is not to say his passing was flawless though.
Reece James (No. 24) Right wingback, England
James – once again – was magnificent. He won 8/13 duels, completed all two dribbles, created one of Chelsea’s three big chances, and recorded a goal and assist. His goal was beautiful too. He’s one of Chelsea’s most influential players.
