Legendary Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante is getting closer to a potential exit from Stamford Bridge, if rumours are to be believed. The Pride of London examine the reports, offer opinions on the Frenchman and a verdict on a possible outcome.
If you’ve read my Blues writing you’ll know that, when fit, I have rated Kante as the best defensive midfielder on the planet in the past. There are challenges on that sentiment, naturally. And disagreements especially arise due to better ball players who also cover the aforementioned role.
Though the diminutive man in the middle was such a prolific ball-winner through tackling and interception at a rapid rate, that his world-class prowess was undeniable. During Kante’s remarkable run with the west London outfit, he won every elite trophy going. Including the World Cup with France, where his contributions were also particularly noticeable.
The former Leicester City player’s injury issues have derailed his dominance of European midfields of late. Yet, at the age of 31, he still has a lot to offer top tier football. If it were up to PoL, he would get the Chels’ deal he desires, within reason. Partially to prevent him from joining a rival Premier League club and returning to haunt the Blues at, predictably, the most inconvenient of times.
Kante’s Chelsea contract supposedly expires in summer 2023, and obviously that means be could potentially leave. Along with departing for free. If CFC lose him, at least a fee would soften the blow for the devoted fanbase. However, there won’t be as much undying loyalty to the Paris-born athlete anymore as his performances have declined from astonishing erstwhile heights.
N’Golo Kante reportedly gets closer to potential Chelsea exit
Talk over Kante’s future intensified whilst the last transfer window was in full flow. It appears to me that CFC do not wish for him to go, although they are unwilling to meet the two or three-year extension demands.
Nevertheless, new claims suggest the hardworking player is considering his future presently, and would like to remain in the capital. But he apparently believes that Chelsea do not plan to extend his agreement, according to this report. Other assertions are that Kante has already been ‘offered‘ to other sides. If true, this might perhaps be the beginning of the end.
