Chelsea predicted XI vs Brentford: 3-4-3 sees Blues on hot win streak
Jorginho(No. 5) Central midfielder, Italy
Jorginho’s introduction to the game saw a change in how the game flowed. He took the momentum out of Aston Villa and restored control to CFC. Villa overran the Blues until Jorginho stepped in. You don’t have to believe he’s fast and you don’t have to believe he’s a good tackler because he’s not, but he is extremely good at what he does and Villa took advantage of his absence on the day.
Mateo Kovacic (No. 8) Right central midfielder, Croatia
Kovacic was taken off for Jorginho, as he wasn’t having a good game himself. It’s not surprising though, as he and Loftus-Cheek were trying to control the game from the center of the pitch. The problem is that they’re both box-to-box midfielders and none of them can control a game by themselves as Jorginho does.
Raheem Sterling (No. 17) Left attacking midfielder, England
Sterling played as a right wingback against Villa, and that contributed substantially to the Blues‘ defensive problems on the day. Potter shouldn’t want to start doing experiments with Sterling’s position at this time. He should leave Sterling at left wing where he should be.
Mason Mount (No. 19) Right attacking midfielder, England
Mount was excellent against Villa. He scored a brace, including a well-struck free kick to double the Blues’ lead. He already has two goals and two assists this season, long may it continue.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (No. 9) Center forward, Gabon
Aubameyang took zero shots in the 58 minutes he was on the pitch. It’s not good enough. He has to get into more shooting positions. It is true that the Blues did not do much for their forwards against Aston Villa, but the Gabon striker has to take some responsibility for his horrendous performance as well.
