I’ve said it before and I’m sure I’ll say it many times in the future, but there’s never a dull moment being a Chelsea fan. The 1-1 draw with Manchester United over the weekend was a largely boring affair, until the final 10’ when both sides fell victim to mental errors. Scott McTominay’s rugby tackle on Armando Broja and the Blues’ missed clearance before Casemiro’s header were crucial moments that could’ve been decisive in securing all three points for either team. All in all, a draw was probably a fair result. It feels so disappointing, though, because of how close it was to turning out differently.
A difficult stretch of fixtures for Chelsea continues to come fast and furious with a trip to the east on the horizon to face RB Salzburg. The Blues’ previous encounter with the Austrian champions, which many will remember was Graham Potter’s first match at the helm, finished in a 1-1 draw. A lovely attacking combination between Chukwubuike Adamu and Noah Okafor canceled out Raheem Sterling’s deft finish at Stamford Bridge, which at the time placed the former European champions dead last in their UCL group with two clashes against AC Milan looming large.
