The top of the Women’s Super League table could not get any tighter as the Blues begin a run of contests that are going to challenge their title-winning aspirations. Coming off one of the most convincing victories in club history in the Champions League, the Blues have back-to-back games in the WSL before the international break kicks in halfway through November. Chelsea seeks to continue its winning run at Kingsmeadow going against Carla Ward and Aston Villa that currently sits seventh in the table following a hot start to their campaign.

The Midlands outfit beat Manchester City in the league on the first day of the season, shocking the rest of the WSL, and defeated Manchester United in the Conti Cup group stage just a few weeks later. Since then, Aston Villa has run into a poor run of form, losing three straight games in all competitions, including two against Everton.

There are plenty of positives for the Villans going forward for a team that finished ninth in the table in the last campaign. Despite that, Ward and Aston Villa encounter a red-hot CFC team that is beginning to show the rest of Europe why it is one of the front runners in the race for the Champions League title. The quick turnaround for the second connective week for the Blues should not halt Chelsea one bit given the amount of rotation that has been done against both Brighton and Vllaznia.

Following her sensational outing on the pitch, Pernille Harder spoke on the team’s focus heading into a new month:

"“I think to just take one game at a time and give everything in each game. We happen to be top of the group after two games, but we have another game after the international break. We have to have a really good performance in that game, take one game at a time, and take all the confidence we can with each win.”"

Harder had the opportunity to look ahead to the matchup against Aston Villa at Kingsmeadow, stating, “I think they’ve had some good results. It will be interesting to see how the game will turn out. They’re a good team with good players so we have to be 100% ready for that.”
