The Pride of London talk Blues supporters through the two latest Chelsea transfer rumours: Piero Hincapie and Moises Caicedo.
A masterful Lionel Messi managed to majestically manoeuvre past a very good France side as he eventually lifted the World Cup trophy on Sunday evening. I would imagine that the entire footballing universe collectively clapped the diminutive magician. Even Cristiano Ronaldo.
Anyway, it’s back to domestic footy very soon. The January transfer window shall also open in no time whatsoever. As everyone already guessed and read from the experts, Chelsea are in the market, when it opens, for a centreback and a central midfielder.
Although, technically trading can start anytime, we’ve seen that from the Blues’ particularly shrewd move for French attacker Christopher Nkunku. You can read more on the Nkunku signing by clicking here.
Meanwhile, Moises Caicedo of Brighton & Hove Albion is a possible CFC target. The 21-year-old potentially fits the bill well at Stamford Bridge: a versatile and skilled midfield operator who can play as a deeper No.6 or a more advanced No.8. In addition to that, he knows how to handle the pressure of the Premier League and top level international contests.
Caicedo’s Ecuadorian teammate Piero Hincapie could be a good shout, too, especially as a cheaper alternative to the much sought-after Josko Gvardiol of Croatia. At age 20, Hincapie is young enough, like Wesley Fofana, to build the defence around. This report suggests an interest in the centrehalf.
Chelsea return to action
Whilst on warm-weather training duty in Dubai, the Chels’ squad – minus World Cup representatives at that time – played a friendly match with Aston Villa. The Villans were the victors in that one – if the outcome and result matters – after a very early John McGinn finish.
Regrettably, Blues striker Armando Broja sustained an anterior cruciate ligament rupture in the practice outing against the English opponent. Broja has undergone surgery and should be sidelined for the remainder of the current season.
When EPL matches resume, the west London team must take maximum points from a couple of winnable fixtures versus Bournemouth and then Nottingham Forest. This is because a double header with an even more formidable Manchester City side this season thanks to the arrival of Erling Haaland follows. First of all Chelsea play the Citizens in the league, as well as subsequently the Third Round of the FA Cup.
