Fabrizio Romano has seemingly confirmed that Chelsea are looking to hijack Arsenal’s prospective transfer for Ukrainian wunderkind Mykhailo Mudryk.

I suppose at 21-years-old you are no longer a ‘wunderkind’ but someone who must prove themselves a talented adult. That is how old Mudryk is now, whilst courted by some of Europe’s most significant clubs. Two teams apparently vying for the Shakhtar Donetsk man are London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea.

If Mudryk makes either of those moves a reality, he will move on from wonder child to ‘I wonder if he’ll make the grade’. You see, the Premier League is the toughest domestic test an elite footballer can have. And don’t take my verdict on that, listen to or read any EPL stalwarts’ opinion for validation.

Although, the winger has the skills, perseverance, strength and talent to succeed in the English top-flight. Sometimes, though, being prosperous in the most testing of divisions is down to mental health or comfort in a different country. If Krasnohrad-born player does join the EPL, I think we’ll all be thoroughly entertained: his pace and trickery is masterful, even at this stage.

While he is still at the start of his fledgling professional career, Mudryk is already a Ukraine international, adding to the athlete’s pedigree. The aforementioned reasons are why the Gunners are apparently intent on signing the wideman. It seems to be common knowledge that Mikel Arteta and his staff wish for his signature.

AFC have reportedly agreed personal terms concerning a five-year contract with Mudryk and his representatives. The deal would potentially earn him £120,000-per-week. Yet this hasn’t stopped the Blues from attempting a “last ditch effort’ to thwart their fellow capital club and swoop for the Ukrainian. Excitingly, a report in The Sun states that CFC ‘are set for talks’ with Mudryk this week.
