The Frenchman ranks in the 77th percentile for tackles won amongst fullbacks in Europe’s top five leagues. He also ranks in the 88th percentile for tackles attempted in the final third amongst the same group. Gusto has won on average 0.9 possession in the final third per game this season, which is incredible. His possession won in the final third also indicates that he would be comfortable with the demands of a right wingback at Chelsea.

He has averaged 1.4 interceptions per 90 amongst fullbacks in Europe’s top five leagues, which ranks him in the 82nd percentile. It should be noted that Lyon tries to keep the ball as much as they can, so these defensive numbers are commendable indeed. Gusto not only offers many things to Chelsea defensively, he also can be a key figure for the Blues in terms of chance creation.

His raw creation numbers aren’t dazzling as they are, as he’s created 1.3 chances per game, and just 3 big chances in 14 games this season. However, he ranks in the 72nd percentile for Shot-Creating Actions per 90 (SCA90) amongst fullbacks in Europe (2.56) and he ranks in the 85th percentile or higher in Shot-Creating Actions from live-passes (2.24) and from dribbles (0.14). He also ranks in the 73rd percentile for Goal-Creating Actions per 90 (GCA90).
