The Pride of London round up the latest Chelsea talk, including: Jorginho’s contract, Graham Potter on young stars, Romelu Lukaku’s wish and the brand new Marcus Thuram rumour.

The inevitable loss to Manchester City definitely wasn’t as painful and stark as it could have been. In fact, the Blues arguably deserved a draw, and had their chances to score. The first half in particular was when the west London team could have taken advantage of a more laid back than usual Pep Guardiola side.

During the initial 45 minites, Man City seemed to intentionally play the counterattack prominently. In addition to that, they disregarded the typical high intensity press somewhat, as opposed to what you regularly see from the Citizens.

However, after the match, City’s Jack Grealish confirmed that Guardiola was fairly animated and used colourful language at half-time. This leads PoL to believe that the North West outfit were unintentionally tepid.

Nevertheless, the Blues were defeated again, adding extra pressure onto Graham Potter. Some of that is of his own doing, while others affairs have affected his occasionally good or astute decisions. Either way, the gaffer called his players in to training on Friday to ‘resolve tactical issues’.

But I’m really here to talk about a few other CFC matters today, so let’s begin with Jorginho. It appears as though the Italian will be staying at Stamford Bridge, as a contact renewal meeting is scheduled. I’m not sure that the deep lying playmaker can hold onto his Chelsea starting place for much longer, though.

Over in Italy, on loan Blues striker Romelu Lukaku wishes to stay at Inter Milan. I’m positive that the vast majority of CFC supporters will agree with that desire.

Meanwhile in England, injury problems forced Potter into using a trio of youthful Chels’ stars versus Man City: Carney Chukwuemeka, Omari Hutchinson and Lewis Hall. The head coach proclaimed the three “great” on the evening. I see big things, hopefully at the Bridge, for all of them.

The brand new Marcus Thuram to Chelsea rumour

OK, this is a significant link, but I’m unsure that many media outlets are on it yet. I rate Thuram, the versatile French attacker who saw action at the World Cup. His father Lilian, incidentally, was also a fine France international.

Apparently several clubs are interested in the Borussia Monchengladbach man. Yet the Blues might perhaps make their transfer move in January.
