Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly has reportedly made progress in his attempt for the west London club to snatch Mykhailo Mudryk from under Arsenal’s nose. The Pride of London explain the situation and offer our verdict on a possible switch, and the calibre of the transfer target.

Securing the best talents for the team is obviously the highest priority for any club. But if you can hijack a city rival whilst doing so, leaving them in the dust whilst capturing the athlete – the feeling is even more sweet! This is the current scenario for the highly rated Mudryk as two London sides supposedly battle it out for his signature.

This set of circumstances puts the Ukrainian in an awkward but very desirable place: imagine two Premier League clubs courting you and offering millions a year to play the beautiful game! Dreams. The Shakhtar Donetsk man must make an eventual decision in the midst of his enviable conundrum.

Apparently CFC chairman, Boehly, has stuck his proverbial oar in and made waves for the Gunners. The Blues chief has ‘held talks over a deal with Shakhtar’s sporting director Darijo Srna and CEO Serhii Palkin’.

Now reports claim that CFC were successful in turning the 20-year-old’s heart towards Stamford Bridge. While Mikel Arteta’s outfit is said to remain confident, Chelsea are more likely to part with close to the £88million asking price. Although that prospective fee is eye-watering, this athlete seems to possess what is lacking on Fulham Road presently.

Trio of new Chelsea signings given squad numbers for remainder of 2022/23

In recent times, three Blues additions have been announced: Benoit Badiashile, David Datro Fofana and Gabriel Slonina. Badiashile, formerly of AS Monaco, will wear the No.4 shirt which was vacated by Andreas Christensen. The Frenchman plays as a centreback.

Datro Fofana will represent CFC with the number 27; he is a striker signed from Molde. The Ivorian might perhaps play against Manchester City in the FA Cup, chelseafc.com confirmed.

Finally Slonina has chosen 36 as his own. He is a goalkeeper who joined the Blues from Chicago Fire. Assigning a squad number to the young American hints that he’ll be a first team backup stopper this season. Although, at 18, a loan certainly isn’t out of the question.
