The arrival of Joao Felix and Mykhailo Mudryk at Chelsea means that Blues winger Callum Hudson-Odoi might perhaps leave for a new club in the summer.

The statements of intent of Chelsea Football Club are as many as their bank statements for new purchases at present. Yeah, the Blues are splashing the cash, indeed. Although, expenditure was expected by outlets like ourselves – just how much CFC would outlay was not predicted.

Even loans are now costing more than the majority of switches and some are more profitable than others: Denis Zakaria compared with Joao Felix, in their current capacities. In addition to that, well-funded teams such as Chelsea are also acquiring further permanent talent for their ranks: Mykhailo Mudryk, and less expensive future stars.

But what does all this mean for those Blues on the periphery? Well, let’s take Callum Hudson-Odoi’s situation. In spite of versatility and quality, he never made a position fully his own at Stamford Bridge. The 22-year-old is still a CFC asset, though whilst temporarily at Bayer Leverkusen on loan. Simon Johnson, journalist for The Athletic, says this about the Englishman:

"Callum Hudson-Odoi will make a decision on his Chelsea future this summer. A number of clubs across Europe are keen and have started to register interest. He doesn’t want to rush any decision over his future and is focused on playing for Bayer Leverkusen."

The actual length of Mykhailo Mudryk’s Chelsea contract

There was shock as well as surprise from fans on Twitter and subsequently, seemingly, a bit of confusion between journalists as they attempted to report and convey the longevity of Mudryk’s deal to remain on Fulham Road. Only the fine details are left to be exposed to those fans who want to be informed, as the major information was already published, or promptly posted to social media.

Basically, on Monday, when the dust had settled from the Ukraine international’s switch to the Bridge, Evening Standard reporter Nizaar Kinsella confirmed that the winger signed an eight-and-a-half-year contract with the west London outfit. Which is a whopping agreement.

However, during the whirlwind Sunday as Chels’ defeated capital rivals Crystal Palace and literally unveiled and promoted the signing of Mudryk simultaneously, other reputable writers wrote with discrepancy in their tweets. For example, The Athletic’s David Ornstein said the signature was obtained for a seven-and-a-half year stay with an option of a further year. The official CFC website clarifies by saying 8.5. Either way, this feels like a momentous move.
