Chelsea have already splashed €100 million on Mykhailo Mudryk in an attempt to bolster the attack. CFC even added Joao Felix on loan until the end of the season to give Graham Potter more attacking options. As things stand, the Blues are on course to complete the signing of Noni Madueke from PSV.
Todd Boehly’s ridiculously deep pockets have allowed Chelsea to carry out a major squad overhaul. The work isn’t done yet and players are still coming through the door at Stamford Bridge. In January alone, five players have been signed – David Datro Fofana, Andrey Santos, Benoit Badiashile, Felix and Mudryk.
Reports widely suggested that Chelsea are not going to stop at five signings and there is room for more as names such as Moises Caicedo and Madueke kept on getting associated with a move.
CFC broke the bank to sign Mudryk but that hasn’t stopped them from going into the market and acquiring another explosive winger. Madueke was a target and a report emerged that Chelsea even made a €30 million bid for the 20 year old attacker.
Chelsea set to sign Noni Madueke from PSV
PSV rejected the bid as the Dutch side felt that the offer on the table was too low and they weren’t willing to lower down with their valuation. PSV were holding onto their €40 million valuation and Chelsea would have to loosen up their pockets further if they wanted to sign Madueke in the winter transfer window.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Madueke to Chelsea is at an advanced stage and PSV are already working on finding a replacement. As per Dutch journalist Rik Elfrink, Chelsea are surely going to sign Madueke with the English club paying up to €40 million to acquire the services of the 20 year old winger.
With multiple reports pointing out the advancement of the deal, there is very little chance that the transfer will fall through. Madueke is set to become the sixth arrival at Chelsea in January and will add flair to the flanks.
At 20, Madueke is young and bright, yet, he is flourishing and wreaking havoc on the pitch. Madueke completes 4.74 dribbles per 90 minutes, featuring in top 1 per cent of wingers across Europe. He also records 8.85 touches in the opposition penalty area, again breaking into top 1 per cent of wingers across Europe. (stats via FBref)
The England U-21 star is excellent at 1v1’s and creates 5.38 shot creating actions per game. He doesn’t shy away from taking a shot at goal, registering 4.56 shots per 90. Madueke brings some level of fearlessness in attack and explosiveness that Chelsea has lacked for a while.
Will Noni Madueke shine instantly at the club?
