Chelsea have been very active when it comes to signing players but a few exits have been touted in the January transfer window too. One player that Chelsea are trying to offload is Tiemoue Bakayoko, who is currently on loan at AC Milan.

Bakayoko will go down as a major failed transfer of Roman Abramovich era. The Frenchman arrived at a cost of £40 million from AS Monaco after being one of the protagonists of Moanco’s magical season in 2016-17. The midfielder did not adapt to life at Stamford Bridge and looked a shadow of himself.

In the summer of 2018, he was loaned to AC Milan, where he found some form after initial struggles under Gennaro Gattuso. Bakayoko returned to Chelsea only to be sent on loan, this time to Monaco. The French side had an option to buy the midfielder for £38 million. This version of Bakayoko was different from the one that left the Principality of Monaco two years ago. Monaco were never convinced of paying the fee and the Frenchman returned to Chelsea.

Bakayoko was again surplus to requirements and Chelsea were looking to offload the midfielder. Napoli came knocking at the door as Bakayoko reunited with Gattuso. The Italian once again managed to extract the best out of Bakayoko as the midfielder was a mainstay in the Napoli midfield.

Tiemoue Bakayoko’s move from Chelsea to Adana Demirspor has collapsed

Upon his return to Stamford Bridge, CFC expected that his stock would have risen owing to his impressive season in Serie A but again there were no takers for him on a permanent basis. AC Milan came with a two year loan offer, covering his wages and including an obligation to buy clause if the midfielder reached a certain threshold of appearances.

For Milan, he has become a headache that they can’t get rid of. He has not made a single appearance this season and frustration is running high in the Milan camp. Chelsea have been trying to get rid of the 28 year old but have only partially succeeded by sending him out on loans.

Chelsea finally seemed to be getting somewhere in parting ways with Bakayoko as an agreement was reached with Turkish side Adana Demirspor. The only thing that remained was Bakayoko’s approval. Milan had no objection to cutting short the loan as they would have saved money in wages.

Chelsea’s recurring problem would have finally been solved but the move has collapsed as per Sky Italy journalist Manuele Baiocchini. This means that the 28 year old will remain at San Siro until the end of the season and Chelsea will now have to find another solution in the summer.

Will Tiemoue Bakayoko leave CFC in the summer?
