Liverpool are reportedly looking to weaken Premier League rivals Chelsea by signing a current Blues midfielder and Champions League winner.

There is loads to talk about with regard to the west London club at present, even though they are not in action on the pitch for two weeks. At least we are over halfway through the period without CFC playing.

Meanwhile, Graham Potter has his Chelsea squad going through the paces at Cobham Training Ground. The Blues clash with fellow capital outfit Fulham on Friday night at Stamford Bridge. It’ll be very interesting to see which formation, system and personnel the head coach chooses for the game against the Cottagers.

With respect to the transfer market, Chels’ might not be finished yet, in spite of a frankly astounding amount spent on transfer fees during this window. If you trust the latest speculation from decent sources such as Fabrizio Romano, you’ll see that the Blues might perhaps be on the verge of a breakthrough for Enzo Fernandez. What an amazing starting XI it will be with all these additions. The intent for Chelsea to be a real force once more from Todd Boehly is startling.

Onto a totally different subject now, because the United Kingdom government is apparently ‘close’ to releasing proceeds from Roman Abramovich’s £2.3 billion sale of CFC. The money will go to a foundation for Ukraine, as per The Telegraph. The completion may have taken time to occur, but it is nice to hear that funds are going to a good cause.

OK, now onto the gossip at hand. N’golo Kante’s existing contract will expire at the end of 2022/23. So Jurgen Klopp has supposedly ‘requested’ the Frenchman’s services at Liverpool. The report claims the Reds would love to weaken their EPL competitors this way.

The German gaffer thinks Kante would be ideal at Anfield. However, Boehly is reluctant to relinquish the World Cup winner, and has therefore scheduled a meeting to convince the midfielder to stay at CFC. If the 31-year-old maintains fitness, he remains worthwhile in my opinion.
