Respected journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed details of Chelsea centreback Thiago Silva’s soon-to-be new Blues contract, which includes the probable length.

The Pride of London writer, Caden Charpentier, recently asserted that Silva remains CFC’s best performing player. And it is very difficult to disagree with that declaration. I certainly won’t be; I’d even go so far to say that Chelsea should already be attempting to convince the Brazil international to take a coaching role at Stamford Bridge upon retirement.

Although, that era may be a while away yet, due to reports of an extension to the Brazilian’s existing Chels’ contract. The Blues fan base will be delighted to hear that the expert centrehalf might perhaps be on Fulham Road for another year.

In the above tweet, Fabrizio Romano claims that progression is being made in talks with the legendary defender. The plan is to extend his agreement for another campaign, which would obviously be valid until potential expiration at the end of the 2023/24 season.

Apparently discussions are ongoing; the Italian appears to suggest that he is waiting for the green light to report on a signature. Furthermore, the reporter states that the former Paris Saint-Germain man is considered a “top player and leader” in the Blues dressing room. CFC are hopeful of imminent completion.

No Chelsea match until Saturday, again

How are we gonna survive all week with no Chels’ action?! Fear not, Blues fans, because soon Champions League fixtures will return. Well, this may potentially cause twice as much pain as usual. Hopefully Graham Potter’s fairly masterful first run at the UCL wasn’t just beginner’s luck, as Borussia Dortmund await the west Londoners.

Over the next six matches, CFC have an arguably winnable stretch coming up. First of all, there is a trip to east London for a capital derby versus West Ham United. The Hammers are really in a fight for Premier League survival, so that’ll be an interesting clash.

Following that match is the initial contest with Dortmund in Europe. A beatable Southampton outfit are the subsequent opponents. Spurs welcome the Blues to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after the Saints, before Leeds United play CFC. Finally in this sequence, is the showdown with BVB for Potter’s men.
