Chelsea Academy graduate and star Mason Mount has reportedly already made a decision regarding his Blues future amid interest from major Premier League clubs.

With only just over one year remaining on Mount’s contract, his form deteriorating and his profile still high, some Blues supporters are seemingly content for CFC to cash in on the midfielder. To keep or sell, that is the question.

A season or so ago, I would have said it was extremely unwise to even consider selling the England regular. Now, however, I do see the reasoning and probably agree that obtaining a premium fee is best. Let’s just say that Mount’s value to the west London club may continue to decrease. So the choice would be business, not personal, for me.

Nonetheless, ridding themselves of Mount might prove to be a very bad reality: he would be bound to return in devastating fashion to score and defeat Chels’. All whilst not celebrating in this hypothetical scenario, of course. The sides who apparently fancy taking the 24-year-old away from Stamford Bridge are all leading Premier League outfits, obviously. Strengthening any rivals for the 2023/24 EPL crown would be strange.

I’m getting vibes of Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus reinforcing Arsenal after being relinquished by Manchester City. Although, Pep Guardiola appears to have even avoided comeback on those questionable sales. The English teams who supposedly want to sign Mount in the summer and are actively monitoring his contract situation are Liverpool, Man City and Manchester United.

Whether James Olley’s report is accurate or not, we don’t know. Irrespective of other examples of notable footballers joining competitors and sides eyeing him, current talk is that Mount has made up his mind with respect to his career.

According to Nizaar Kinsella, Mount’s wish is to stay at CFC, thought that desire is being tested for various reasons. The latter has ‘rejected interest’ from elsewhere, and is essentially devoted to Chelsea in many ways.

It was external clubs who are said to have ‘sensed opportunity’ regarding the player’s protracted negotiations over a new deal. Blues head coach Graham Potter refused to update media with any information or progress.
