Boehly meets Neymar’s reps to push for Chelsea transfer
Todd Boehly’s quest to revert Chelsea Football Club back into a footballing superpower continues as he meets Brazilian superstar Neymar’s representatives to push for a Blues transfer.
You’ve got to hand it to the CFC chairman, he is definitely doing anything and spending any amount in order to get Chelsea back to where they belong: towards the top of the Premier League, if not consistently winning it. Boehly has been on a mission since taking the reins as co-owner, with Behdad Eghbali joining him at the Blues helm.
There seems to be single focus, along with persistent commitment and dedication to realise ambition. I suppose the two wouldn’t be where they are in life had they not possessed such acumen and desire. I think CFC is in good hands in that regard. However, the mass expenditure could have been handled better during and since the summer.
The west London team has been improved, although The Pride of London cannot help but feel that a proper recruitment chief would have gotten improved, cheaper deals for the same and higher calibre players. If the January market was the winter one on this occasion, then Chels’ wouldn’t have had to pay over the odds for many signings. Although, some of the ill-advised acquisitions still might prove me and Graham Potter wrong.
Splashing the cash is a positive sign in some respects, though I argue that more comprehensive scouting and careful selection over time may help. That being said, when you add Malo Gusto as well as Christopher Nkunku to the roster ahead of next season, Potter’s side appear potent on paper, at least. In addition to those soon-to-be Blues, another Brazil star could be coming to Stamford Bridge.
Todd Boehly meets Neymar representatives for Chelsea transfer
Apparently Boehly met Neymar’s reps – or entourage – this week. They discussed ‘different possibilities’ to secure the 31-year-old; PSG would like to sell him. There are further details here.
Would Neymar be one diva too many? Possibly; I don’t think bad attitudes are Potter’s main problem: it is cohesion. Could Neymar enhance the CFC lineup? 100 per cent. Is there a chance the Paris Saint-Germain man would create extra issues? Sure. Yet his ability is second to none.
