Chelsea have lost 1-0 to bottom placed side Southampton as Saints have completed a league double over Chelsea for the first time since 1987-88 season. Graham Potter is now under huge pressure as CFC have registered just two wins in the last 15 games.

Despite an ensemble cast that cost over £300 million, Chelsea have failed to get the better of Southampton who are without a manager since Nathan Jones’ sacking. This Chelsea look like a disjointed team without necessary bite. The Blues lack cohesion that is required at the highest level, which is why they are struggling to win games as a unit and climb up the Premier League ladder.

A large faction of Chelsea supporters are turning against Potter as this Chelsea side doesn’t resonate with the fans given how bland and disoriented they are. This side is missing the aura that gels the squad and brings out the best in them. Given the heavy spending in January and influx of so many players, it is natural for players to take time to adjust to new surroundings and operate as a unit.

At the moment, Potter’s job is secure as Todd Boehly has given his backing to the former Brighton man but results will have to go Potter’s way soon. If the results do not go in Potter’s favour in the upcoming games, pressure will only increase and Chelsea could also look at managers available in the market.

3 managers Chelsea could consider if they decide to sack Graham Potter:

Luis Enrique

Luis Enrique has been out of job since the FIFA World Cup 2022. He is one of the top managers available right now and his appointment should certainly appeal the Chelsea fan base. Enrique’s vertical expansive style has proved to be effective at Barcelona and the Spain national team. Enrique had a win percentage of 76.24% with Barcelona during his three year tenure at Camp Nou. The Spaniard is known to have excellent man managerial skills and can get the best out of a squad that at times lacks inspiration.

Zinedine Zidane

There is no manager on this planet that has been able to replicate what Zinedine Zidane has with Real Madrid. The French manager was the architect of Madrid’s three successive UEFA Champions League titles in modern day game.

With Zidane comes a certain sense of ruthlessness in terms of man management. He wouldn’t shy away from benching big names and instills that big-game mentality in players of his team. He will be looking to return to management and there isn’t a bigger stage than the Premier League and Chelsea.

Mauricio Pochettino

Mauricio Pochettino has been out of management since parting ways with PSG in July 2022. He is most remembered for his impressive spell at Tottenham Hotspur where he transformed the Spurs side into solid challengers and came close to ending the trophy drought by taking the North London side to the finals of the Champions League in 2019. Pochettino employs an attacking brand of football with focus on pressing and unsettling opponents through quick pressing.
