1 goal. That is how many goals Chelsea have managed to net in the last six matches in all competitions. For Graham Potter and his troops, it just keeps getting worse. The question has to be, when does the patience among the ownership expire?

At this point in time, the Chelsea fan base around the world is beginning to lose patience. It almost seemed as if the Blues had no clue Sunday afternoon was a London derby. Despite having the majority of the possession, the west London outfit collected five or fewer shots on target for the fifth straight Premier League contest. Thomas Tuchel had 16 losses in 100 games at the helm for the west London side, but Potter has already reached 10 losses in just 26 contests on the sideline.

At some point, that patience will run its course. What Potter did to turn around Brighton was remarkable. From 16th place to the top half of the table, the Seagulls would not be in the position there is this season if it was not for the brilliant work of Potter during his 135 matches on the south coast of England.

Is time running out for Graham Potter at Chelsea?

It is both disappointing and understandable to hear the news of thousands of people signing a petition for Todd Boehly to sack Potter. He can continue to say that he understands the consistent criticism, but if the results are not being produced none of that matters. The lack of progress is incredibly concerning, and at the moment it does not feel like the players are convinced that Potter is even the man to do the job.

From the massive amount of changes game by game to a number of questionable substitutions at important moments, it completely makes sense to place a lot of the blame on the Solihull native. Potter no doubt has to stick with a consistent squad, but it has to be a difficult task to select a team each week following the number of incomings during the January window.

He is without question an intelligent manager with an extraordinary football mind. His story from working at Leeds Carnegie F.C. in 2008 to now one of the biggest football clubs in the world over a decade later is one Blues fans should familiarize themselves with. According to Matt Law of The Telegraph, the owners feel as if the next two contests against two teams in the bottom seven of the English top flight will decide his fate. He is not Pep Guardiola or even Tuchel. Blues fans need to come to grips with that.

At some point, everything is going to click given the quality that is blanketed throughout the team, and Potter has all the tools to be the one that leads it. It is fair to give Potter the next two league games against two teams that have lost two out of their last three contests, and access after that.

Even with a new manager, does anyone really know that it would change anything? The answer to that question is extremely unclear. It goes without saying that overcrowded training sessions, and injuries have contributed to the lack of connectivity throughout the squad.

Since Roman Abramovich left the club, Boehly restructured Chelsea’s entire recruitment and scouting department. It is truly a rebuild as the new ownership begins to develop a more stable football club from top to bottom. Time will run out at some point due to the consistency that Boehly has seen with his L.A. Dodgers in Major League Baseball for so long.

The hour glass has been flipped, and the sand is beginning to collect on the bottom. The next three games including the fixture at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League are critical in deciding the future of the Graham Potter, and if the results do not turn around, it may be time to let the lease go.
