Pros and cons of sacking Potter before and after UCL tie

After losing to Spurs over the weekend, the west London club founds itself in a situation that may now only be resolved by sacking their manager, Graham Potter. In the battle for a top-four finish, the defeat puts them 14 points behind Tottenham, and, regardless of whether Potter holds his job or not, even qualifying for any European spot next season now appears to be a difficult task.

The Blues have just two victories in their last 15 Premier League games, which has them leveled on points with Aston Villa in 10th place and heading for a lackluster season finale. Despite this horror show, the Chelsea hierarchy are still hesitant on sacking the former Brighton gaffer, but are starting to have their doubts. It is rumored that Potter has at least two games to steer the sinking ship as the Stamford Bridge outfit face relegation fighting Leeds, and the second leg of the Champions League tie against Borussia Dortmund.

These two fixtures are ‘make or break’ for the blues season and a change is needed immediately. That change of course being a new manager. Chelsea supporters addressed their opinions on social media about Potter’s future, one side being pro-Potter till the end of the season (or a defeat to either Leeds United or BVB), whilst the other side prefer a managerial change ASAP for the important matches, preferable before meeting the German side again. Here are two pros and cons of both scenarios:
