After yet another defeat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on the weekend, Chelsea Football Club are now closer to the relegation zone than the top four. The West Londoners have managed to win only two of their last 15 games and that has caused reasonable unrest amongst the Chelsea supporters with thousands of them signing a petition to have Graham Potter gone already.

As per Mr. Fabrizio Romano, “Chelsea are still backing Graham Potter but are expecting different results or the situation could change in the next weeks.” The Board have backed him so far, but now their tolerance is being tested. Apparently, Boehly was with Potter and the team after the miserable performance in the London Derby trying to keep the squad together but with every passing game, the situation is only getting worse.

The respected journalist Matt Law reports that, “The next two games are make or break for Graham Potter, Telegraph Sport understands more than one player was shocked to find out he wouldn’t even be on the subs bench against Spurs. Senior players are concerned over whether Graham Potter can turn the situation around, new signings are shocked by the pressure they are already under and there is anger amongst those left out of the Matchday squads.”

Is time running out for Graham Potter at Chelsea?

The Chels’ faithful do sympathize and understand the abnormal circumstances Potter was thrown into. Joining a club mid season that went through a change in ownership where he still did manage to get off to a flying start, but then was unlucky with the injury crisis at the club.

And then came the January transfer window where Boehly and his team went all out and brought in multiple new faces spending a fortune, to add to it the club failed to clear the deadwood and reduce the squad size which has led to his training sessions being undermined by having too many players to work with.

All of this has mounted some unnecessary pressure on Graham Potter but at a club as huge and successful as Chelsea, there is no scope for excuses. And if the poor run continues, the questions will then be redirected towards the Board which will definitely create uncertainty about the Gaffer’s stay at the club.

Co-controlling owner Behdad Eghbali is expected to join Todd Boehly for the games against Leeds United and Borussia Dortmund. Which means that the next two games will be crucial for Potter to win back some faith and prove that he is the man who can bring long term success at the club. However the fans seem to be quite clear with their demands and if the former Brighton and Hove Albion Chief fails to make any significant improvements, the Board will be forced to reconsider the decision.

All in all, the CFC supporters will look forward to the next two climacteric weeks where they either get to witness a miracle in Potter making a comeback or will have their demands fulfilled by having the Solihull native gone.
