The match between Chelsea and Leeds United on Saturday at Stamford Bridge is a pivotal one for both teams and could have significant consequences for their respective seasons. One hand you got Leeds fighting for survival, and are in dire need of points to survive from the prospect of relegation. The Whites’ first league victory since the 5th of November lifted them out of the relegation zone and up to 17th, though the gap is still just one point. The victory came in Leeds’ 1-0 victory over fellow strugglers Southampton in the new manager Javi Gracia’s first game in charge at Elland Road last weekend. Maybe a sign of hope for Leeds as they want to keep the momentum going against a disjointed CFC side.

On the flip side, you’ve got Chelsea head coach, Graham Potter trying to save his job regardless of still having the backing of the board. After yet another loss,  despite their substantial spending in back-to-back transfer windows, this time coming from London rivals Tottenham, Chelsea are currently closer to the relegation zone (10 points) than Champions League qualification as their dismal season continues. With one win in 2023, this season may top the blues 2015/16 abysmal performance. A very fascinating fixture to look out for. The reverse fixture between the two ended in a 3-0 rout for Leeds early on the season – maybe to foreshadow what to come for CFC.
