Just six points separate the current league leaders, Manchester United, and fourth-place Arsenal in the Women’s Super League table. As it did last season, it looks like the title is going to come down to the last match week of the campaign. Marc Skinner’s Man United not only have aspirations for a Champions League spot next season, but believe they have what it takes to stop Chelsea’s WSL title run.

Not many people took United seriously. That was until Mary Earps and the Red Devils walked into the Emirates in late November and overcame a one goal deficit to win the match in stoppage time. That win sent a message to the rest of women’s football. United had officially arrived.

After years of competing just on the edge, Man United may have finally broken through on its journey to become a top-two WSL side. Skinner’s side possesses the best defensive record in the league to date along with Arsenal, letting in just eight league goals this season. Led by former Brighton and Hove Albion center back Maya Le Tissier, the Red Devils have collected a clean sheet in three out of the last five WSL matches.
