Chelsea predicted lineup vs Leicester City: Benoit Badiashile starts, Cucurella benched in 3-4-3
Chelsea travel to the East Midlands to face an inconsistent Leicester side that have been winless in the last three Premier League games. Blues manager Graham Potter has managed to keep the doubters silent on temporary basis as Chelsea have secured two back to back wins. Chelsea come off a 2-0 win against Borussia Dortmund, advancing to the quarters of the UEFA Champions League.
CFC also returned to winning ways in the Premier League, thanks to their 1-0 win over Leeds United last weekend. Chelsea will now look forward to carrying this run of form and further ensure positive results. The team is still adapting but with each passing game, players are resonating well with Potter’s ideas.
Since changing the shape to a back three, CFC have looked far more competent than they have been in the rest of the season. The Blues will look to bank on some individual brilliance along with the team effort against Leicester.
Chelsea predicted lineup vs Leicester City
Goalkeeper: Kepa Arrizabalaga
Kepa has kept two clean sheets in the last two games and will retain his position as the man between the posts. The Spaniard remains unfazed by the potential return of Edouard Mendy who is on the path of recovery and his return is just around the corner.
Centre back: Wesley Fofana
Wesley Fofana scored the winner against Leeds, dispatching a corner with a towering header. The Frenchman has come in for injured Thiago Silva and looked flawless in the backline. He is composed on the ball and allows Chelsea to play up the pitch.
Centre back: Kalidou Koulibaly
Kalidou Koulibaly finally seems to have found his footing in a Chelsea shirt after turbulent spells since the summer. The Senegalese has stepped up in absence of Silva and looks comfortable playing in a back three. Koulibaly plays at the heart of the back three and will push forward with the ball as Chelsea will look to launch attacks in the Leicester half.
Centre back: Benoit Badiashile
Benoit Badiashile was fantastic on the left side of the back three against Leeds United. He combined well with Ben Chilwell, allowing him to join the attack while Badiashile holds the fort defensively.
Right wing back: Reece James
Reece James in an advanced position is a nightmare for the opposition. After missing the Leeds game, James returned to the lineup for the Dortmund tie. The Englishman was electric against Dortmund and would like to keep up the intensity in the league game against the Foxes.
Central midfield: Enzo Fernandez
Enzo Fernandez has been rock solid for Chelsea since signing for the Blues in the winter transfer window. The Argentine is a midfield dynamo who is adding stability in the middle and forging a solid partnership with Mateo Kovacic.
Central midfield: Mateo Kovacic
The Croatian has started the last two games and looks in good shape. Kovacic’s presence in the midfield allows Fernandez to be a little bolder on the ball and go forward.
Left wing back: Ben Chilwell
Ben Chilwell has been excellent in the last couple of games as he bombards forward and joins the attack, combining well with the left winger and even making runs in the box.
Right wing: Raheem Sterling
Raheem Sterling has been one of Chelsea’s best players of the season and he continues to rack up impressive performances even if the Blues struggle on the pitch. Sterling looks comfortable on the right and combines with James to cause a headache to Victor Kristiansen.
Striker: Kai Havertz
Kai Havertz was on the score sheet against Dortmund but the German is still not at his best. Havertz can still extract more out of himself in the striker’s role and get on the score sheet against the Foxes.
Left wing: Joao Felix
Joao Felix can give the missing spark to the Chelsea team. His free flowing movement allows him to roam and use his trickery to get past his markers. Felix and Havertz combine well, at times interchanging positions.
