Is this goalkeeper who featured at the 2022 World Cup being lined up as Chelsea’s new No.1? Blues chairman Todd Boehly apparently held a “discreet” meeting with Borussia Dortmund representatives in order to discuss the impressive Gregor Kobel.

Just as an introduction for those fans who are unaware, Kobel is a 25-year-old stopper who’s played for 1899 Hoffenheim, FC Augsburg (which was a loan switch), VfB Stuttgart (firstly temporarily) and finally Borussia Dortmund during his blossoming career. There is pedigree with the Zurich-born man, as he represented Switzerland at Under-17 level through every youth age group. After he reached the Swiss U-21 side, he eventually played for his country as a senior athlete. As previously mentioned, the ‘keeper did play once in Qatar, as well.

The competent goalie has enjoyed what is being described as a ‘top’ term in the Bundesliga with Dortmund. In that time, Kobel is said to have ‘earned numerous new admirers’. In fact, the interest is at the point of Chelsea co-owner Boehly scheduling at meeting with BVB over a potential move for the €25million valued player. Graham Potter’s team are supposedly very keen on strengthening their options and selecting the best No.1 before next season.

Christopher Nkunku worries allayed for Chelsea fans by transfer expert

There is no need for Blues concerns over specialist second striker Nkunku joining the west London outfit in the coming summer. There had been speculation stating that failure to qualify for the 2023/24 Champions League, or European competition in general, would trigger a stipulation extinguishing the player’s proposed transfer to Stamford Bridge.
