Former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is in at Bayern Munich, leaving Julian Nagelsmann up for grabs as a potential coaching candidate for a top European club.

In the midst of an international break, one of the most prestigious clubs in European football found a way to send shockwaves throughout the rest of the game. After two losses in the Bundesliga in the last five contests, Bayern Munich thought it was time to part ways with German manager Julian Nagelsmann. Despite being given the keys to Bayern in July of 2021, the 32-time German top-flight champions were not convinced by Nagelsmann since club play resumed following the World Cup.

Looking at a fixture list that features Borussia Dortmund in the league, and Manchester City in Europe, this was the time for the German juggernaut to put in the man they believed in the most. Nagelsmann was clearly not that guy.

He was brought in by Bayern from RB Leipzig for a record managerial transfer fee of €25 million. That money was stamped to a five-year contract.  The 35-year-old won the league by a significant margin in his first year in charge on top of hoisting two other major trophies during his time in charge.

Life comes at you fast, and in less than two years, Nagelsmann went from the future of one of the biggest clubs in Europe to out of a job. Some say it makes sense given the proven track record of someone like Tuchel, but it still seems quite harsh against someone who has produced quality results in such a short period of time.
