Chelsea man open to reuniting with Thomas Tuchel at Bayern Munich
Former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has taken over the reins at Bayern Munich. The timing of Julian Nagelsmann’s sacking does come as a surprise as the Bavarian Giants are set to face Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City in the next couple of weeks.
Tuchel had been out of a job since the Chelsea sacking back in September 2022. Bayern Munich have not wasted any time in getting their top managerial target as delaying the appointment would mean that there could have been serious competition for Tuchel from Tottenham Hotspur and potentially Real Madrid.
Many would argue that sacking the German was not the right choice by owner Todd Boehly and Tuchel should have been given more time and support. In 20 months at Stamford Bridge, Tuchel engineered a comprehensive Champions League win, took CFC to two Cup finals and forged a solid relationship with the fan base.
Former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel wants Anthony Barry at Bayern Munich
He knows Chelsea well and there are speculations that the former PSG manager will raid Chelsea to sign players in the summer transfer window. In fact, Tuchel also wants to bring some of CFC’s current backroom staff to the Allianz Arena.
Tuchel’s time at Chelsea was supported by Anthony Barry. Barry has continued to serve as the assistant manager to Graham Potter but Tuchel is looking for a reunification. The German made his admiration for Barry public, stating that he would want the Englishman at Bayern Munich.
"“My coaching staff wasn’t prepared either, so a big thank you to their families for their flexibility. Arno Michels and Zsolt Low, who have been working with me for over 10 years, will be there. We’re hoping to add Anthony Barry, who is currently at Chelsea.” (via Metro)"
According to The Telegraph, CFC have received a proposal from Bayern Munich for Barry. However, the Blues hierarchy is disappointed with Tuchel for making his interest public. The highly rated Barry would be open to reuniting with Tuchel in Bavaria but so far the German giants have not offered any compensation for Barry.
The English coach is contracted at Stamford Bridge so a release must be agreed between Barry and Chelsea if he is interested in linking up with Tuchel at Bayern. Barry was brought to Chelsea by Frank Lampard and has remained a part of the first team coaching staff under Tuchel and Potter. The former midfielder also assists Roberto Martinez for the Portugal National team.
