Chelsea vs Aston Villa: EPL betting guide and tips
By Mike Malley
Big Ben has been known for his composure on the ball since his days at Monaco, but his technical ability is even more amplified in the faster, more skilled EPL. These two will be the core of the Blues’ defense for years to come, so I’ll back them to keep the door locked on Saturday.
A second bet I like is no on the both teams to score prop at -108. Apart from the immense talent in Chelsea’s defense and the collective ineptitude of each side’s attackers, I just believe in rust coming off an international break. At least one group of players will be ill-prepared to take the field as a unit and have trouble finding the back of the net. I’m hoping it’s not the Blues, but considering how this season has gone so far, who knows what kind of performance we’ll see?
Official odds (via FanDuel as of March 30)
Chelsea ML: -150
Aston Villa ML: +440
Draw: +270
Over/Under: 2.5 (-108/-114)
My Chelsea picks:
I always try to find some statistical support for my picks, but I can’t lie, much of my reasoning for these bets on the Villa clash is based on intuition and vibes. It feels like the kind of game in which Chelsea will come out flat. More often than not though, that’s been a solid prediction this season.
With that being said, I like under 2.5 total goals scored at -114 odds and no on the both teams to score prop at -108. For my final pick, give me over 3.5 corner kicks for the away side at +106 odds. Villa is averaging just over four corners per match, and the tight confines of the Stamford Bridge pitch generally lead to a few extra balls bouncing over the end lines.
