Wolves vs Chelsea: 3 things to look out for
By Abdul Abdullahi
Chelsea take a trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Molineux Stadium this Saturday in what has been a frantic past week for the west London club.
Frank Lampard will serve as Blues caretaker manager through the end of the current campaign, the club has announced. The 44-year-old has temporarily taken over as Chelsea’s head coach, replacing Graham Potter, who was dismissed last Sunday. Bruno Saltor wasn’t keen on continuing the process, left by Potter which is why the club had to act fast by appointing ‘Super Frank’ . According to several reports, the board would like more time decided who should led the club on a permanent basis. With rumors of Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique being heavily linked for the top role, neither of them will take over the remainder of this disastrously season.
"Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali on Frank Lampard and the future vacant poll: “We are delighted to welcome Frank back to Stamford Bridge. Frank is a Premier League Hall of Famer and a legend at this club. As we continue our thorough and exhaustive process for a permanent head coach, we want to provide the club and our fans with a clear and stable plan for the remainder of the season.”"
Lampard, who has led Derby County and Everton, was previously sacked by Chelsea in January 2021 after 84 games in favor of Thomas Tuchel, after serving as the Blues’ manager for 18 months. After receiving the boot at Chelsea in late January 2021, the club’s record goal scorer secured a move to Merseyside and managed a struggling Everton the following year in January 2022. After securing safety last season, life under the Englishman wasn’t great for the Toffees and his fate would soon be sealed early this year in January, once again.
