Luis Enrique, currently in talks with and admired by Chelsea, would reportedly reject the chance to manage Tottenham Hotspur in order to join the Blues. Supposedly, the Spaniard wants to be the new CFC boss. Meanwhile Julian Nagelsmann remains the west London club’s favoured option, according to Fabrizio Romano.

That’s right, the respected Italian journalist has been talking Chels’ once more. Not a lot of people have mentioned the fact that prospective gaffers of high standing in the game are still willing to consider the Blues top job. After the mess that the present ownership got themselves in by sacking Thomas Tuchel at the initial personality clash and hiring an unqualified Graham Potter, this is good news.

Anyway, Romano said that Spurs have earmarked Enrique as a potential replacement for Antonio Conte; the 53-year-old recently left the north Londoners. In addition to that, the transfer and appointment specialist confirmed that CFC are speaking to both Nagelsmann and Enrique for the vacant position on Fulham Road. Frank Lampard is, of course, just in a caretaker capacity at Chelsea at present. Despite the German leading the recruitment for the Blues hotseat, Romano says the ex-Spain chief wants the post.

Frank Lampard doesn’t mix his words when addressing Chelsea failures in Wolverhampton Wanderers loss

The legendary Lampard was not best pleased at the final whistle as Wolves defeated his men. Matheus Nunes bagged the sole goal for the hosts; Chelsea did manage to produce 13 shots at Molineux, but only one was on target.

Next. We now know Potter wasn’t the only problem at Chelsea. dark

The retired midfielder said that his side were ‘off the pace’ during the first half in the west Midlands. Meanwhile Lampard claimed that he asked his players to match Wolves’ aggression at half-time, which he says they proceeded to do. However, the temporary gaffer also declared that the performance exemplified the feeling that ‘things need to improve’ at CFC.
