Ben Chilwell staying at Chelsea is critically important

In nearly three seasons in west London, Chilwell has started in 65 of the 80 contests in which he has played a part in, totalling nine goals to go along with 10 assists in all competitions. He has had at least 2.38 shot creating actions per 90 minutes in every campaign since joining the west London outfit. Ever since he stepped foot on the ground at Stamford Bridge, Chilwell has fit right in.
The Milton Keynes native has engulfed himself into the culture with the Blues, always walking around with a smile on his face. That matters, especially given the recent past of disgruntled players at the club. This is a massive blow to City who are on the hunt for a wing-back following the drama-filled departure of Joao Cancelo on loan to Bayern Munich. For the Blues to lock Chilwell on the left side and agree to a deal with Reece James back in September is something CFC fans can be thrilled about among this campaign filled with mostly lows.
