Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount is facing an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge as he could be sold in the summer if a new deal isn’t agreed anytime soon. Mount will enter the final twelve months of his deal this summer and the contract talks have stalled.

Mount currently earns £80,000 per week and is demanding a raise up to £300,000 per week. Chelsea want to offer him a long term deal but Mount doesn’t want to commit to a six/seven/eight year contract. With Mount’s contract talks hitting a dead end, club are preparing for the possibility of an exit and looking at ways to replace the Englishman.

Mount is a player being watched by many top teams, especially some of Premier League’s top six sides. Liverpool are one of the most interested parties and now their pursuit has strengthened as they have changed their midfield priority.

Liverpool make Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount their priority this summer

Until now, Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham was Liverpool’s top midfield target as the Reds had been following the rise of the youngster. However, Liverpool have decided to end their pursuit for Bellingham as the cost for the 19 year old midfielder is too high and will disrupt the squad overhaul process if a big money move takes place.

According to Liverpool ECHO, Jurgen Klopp’s side have stepped up their interest to sign Mount this summer as he is now a priority to revamp the midfield that has looked bland and dysfunctional at times.

Mount is valued at £57 million by Transfermarkt and Chelsea will be demanding a similar sum should they decide to sell him in the summer. Mount is viewed as a solid fit for Liverpool and the Reds will surely make an effort to sign the 24 year old should he be available in the summer. At the moment, it all depends on the contract talks between Chelsea and Mount. If an agreement isn’t reached in time, a departure is likely.

However, the ray of hope that Chelsea and their supporters would have is the presence of Lampard. Lampard has been instrumental in Mount’s career right from his time at Derby County to his splendid performances in the CFC shirt. Perhaps, the Blues legend can persuade Mount and get him to sign a new deal and extend his stay at Stamford Bridge.
