Chelsea are determined to appoint a new manager in the summer after Graham Potter was sacked last month. Frank Lampard has been appointed as the interim manager until the end of the season but in the background, Chelsea chiefs are working to find a new manager with Julian Nagelsmann being considered one of the top candidates.

Chelsea’s 2-0 loss to Real Madrid has now left them with work to do in the second leg. CFC are now winless in last five games and have not scored in the last four games. The club hierarchy have instilled Lampard at the helm as they can work to evaluate the candidates and announce a new manager in the summer.

Chelsea technical chiefs Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart will be conducting an exhaustive process before announcing the new manager and did not want to rush their decision. Nagelsmann, Luis Enrique, Mauricio Pochettino, Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho have been mentioned as possible candidates for the job.

Julian Nagelsmann set to be interviewed by Chelsea

Out of the aforementioned names, Enrique and Nagelsmann are considered as top candidates for the role. The Spaniard has already been interviewed by the Chelsea hierarchy and he presented his ideas about the squad to the club. He flew down to London to hold talks and give an interview and he made a good impression.

According to the German Bild, former Bayern Munich manager Nagelsmann will now have the opportunity to introduce himself in front of the CFC board and present his ideas. The German coach will appear for an interview after taking a short break after his sacking at Bayern Munich.

CFC technical director Christopher Vivell knows Nagelsmann well and the duo have worked together at RB Leipzig and Hoffenheim. Nagelsmann was linked with the vacant Tottenham job but he turned down the offer as he would only be willing to accept a new job in the summer. From now until the summer, Chelsea have plenty of time to interview the managers on their shortlist and come to an informed decision.
