It is fair to say that Kai Havertz has been living off that one moment. Every manager at the club has been loyal to him having inexhaustible patience but Havertz has managed to consistently disappoint everybody at the club and its supporters. His work off the ball and hold up play were the only two things that he had to offer, but lately he has been lazy with his press and failed to provide anything.

Frank Lampard dropped him, fielding Joao Felix and the so called seasoned winger Raheem Sterling up top at the Santiago Bernabeu and the duo were even worse. They didn’t look like they had goals in them and were not to be found for most parts of the game. Every time the midfield and wing backs won the ball back looking for a quick counter attack, they had no one to play the ball to as the duo up front were too intimidated by the opposition and the occasion to make those runs exploiting the space behind that high line of defence.

The Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr. had 19 touches in the Chelsea box while the entire CFC XI managed to touch the ball only 10 times in their box. Such is the state of this attack.

Felix has been a massive disappointment and has failed to display why Chels’ should be wanting to have him at the club permanently. The Ukrainian speedster Mykhailo Mudryk too has struggled to find form. Noni Madueke and David Datro Fofana haven’t been awarded enough game time implying that they aren’t ready for the challenge just yet.
