There is apparent breaking news on Chelsea’s search for a new manager. Is Julian Nagelsmann in or out at Stamford Bridge? There has been talk over the past week that the German was in the lead regarding the top job on Fulham Road. But a report has completely gone the other way with respect to the former Bayern Munich gaffer’s immediate future.

Nagelsmann is in the lead, they said. He is perfect for CFC, many thought. The Blues could do a lot worse, some claimed. While the majority of Chelsea supporters would have been more than satisfied with the 35-year-old in charge. However, he is supposedly now out of the running, as widely reported Friday afternoon/early evening. At the time of writing, Sky Sports claim that the west Midlands club’s hierarchy never considered Nagelsmann as the primary candidate. Nor was he emerging as the ‘favourite’ in recent time.

OK, well, where does that leave the Blues at this point? Your guess is as good as mine. As everyone feared, with no European football let alone Champions League in 2023/24, why would eminent bosses want to join CFC? Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali should take major responsibility for this, and have indicated they will. Yet there are still some fitting choices out there being linked with a move to Fulham Road: Luis Enrique and Mauricio Pochettino to name two.

Could an icon and retired player from a Premier League rival take charge at Chels‘? Sure, we have seen stranger things occur during the co-ownership of Boehly and Eghbali. To me, just who is at the helm is no issue as long as a side is fluent and generally winning. So, what would you Blues supporters say to Kompany at the Bridge?
