The German manager led CFC to European glory, winning the UEFA Champions league and UEFA Super Cup. Under Tuchel the club also won its first FIFA club world cup as well. Tuchel’s men finished runners up in two FA cup finals and an EFL cup final.

The tactical set up was built on a defensive strategy but the attacking threat Chelsea presented in every game was there to see. Reece James and Ben Chilwell were focal points of attack. Performances under Tuchel were spirited and the players gave it all for the badge.

It all started from the back for Chelsea under these three mangers and while it wasn’t elegant football like prime Barcelona, it was always a team that had passion and grit and it won the club titles. Defense seems to be a common theme for the Blues.

The ingredients for a potent team are there. A strong leader at the back in Thiago Silva, Two explosive and lethal wingbacks in James and Chilwell. Up and coming Wesley Fofana who continues to impress. A midfield maestro in Enzo Fernandez with generals N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic. A flamboyant Christopher Nkunku joining the ranks this summer.

Acquiring a manger like Vincent Kompany, who drills the team and ensures a solid structure with the right mindset seems a good fit. Kompany is regarded as one of the best premier league centre backs and has an authoritative character that he can bring to a scrambled Chels‘ setup and steady the ship. If not Kompany, the club should look for a manager that brings concrete principles to this team as they have been a part of the club’s culture before.
