Soon-to-be new Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino supposedly has a new plan in store for Blues outcast Romelu Lukaku, who is currently on loan at Inter Milan.

According to newspaper rumours collected by Sky Sports, Pochettino will potentially give Lukaku a lifeline at the west London side. The incoming CFC boss, formerly of Tottenham Hotspur, shall ask the centreforward if he would like to revive his career on Fulham Road.

This speculation, emanating from Daily Telegraph, might perhaps come as a shock to some Blues supporters. I am certainly surprised Pochettino is willing to go back down that enigmatic road.

Verdict on Chelsea starting XI for Brentford clash

The Blues meet London rivals Brentford  on Wednesday evening at Stamford Bridge. Neither side has anything to play for barring pride, showing their respective managers their worth and stability on the pitch in general. The Bees have been impressive once again, with Chelsea obviously suffering one of their worst campaigns in modern history. The two clubs are separated by one Premier League place and five points. One surprising aspect for neutrals is that it is Thomas Frank’s team who sit above Frank Lampard’s men.

Lampard’s lineup has been announced with around 35 minutes to go until kick off at the time of writing. The XI is as follows: Kepa Arrizabalaga, Trevoh Chalobah, Thiago Silva, Wesley Fofana, Ben Chilwell, Mateo Kovacic, Enzo Fernandez , N’Golo Kante, Cesar Azpilicueta (captain), Raheem Sterling and Conor Gallagher.

Substitutes are: Edouard Mendy, Benoit Badiashile, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Noni Madueke, Mykhailo Mudryk, Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Joao Félix.

Personally, I do not think the Blues icon has chosen the right team balance once more: the lack of wide forwards is concerning. I also believe that Chels’ may be overrun in midfield again. Does no striker and several of the squad’s best players on the bench possibly inform us that their training efforts are inadequate?
