Chelsea have reportedly made a final decision regarding the manager for the current season and ahead of the 2023/24 Premier League campaign.

The gloom has fully encapsulated Stamford Bridge following an unprecedented modern Blues season. The campaign is not even over yet, but it so is, if you know what I mean?! Brentford were the latest mediocre Premier League side to conquer the west London club on home soil. The Bridge is no longer a fortress, and it won’t host European football next term.

Wow. When typing or saying that fact audibly it does not feel real. However, that is the unwanted situation. Attracting and keeping the best players is paramount but the loss of Europe, like a ‘Brexit’ Britain, makes that task much more difficult. The true problem is that hopeful transfer recruits did not come to fruition, not to mention proven stars failing to show their best for CFC. This has led to the loss of Graham Potter, and now club icon Frank Lampard has the unenviable record of playing five fixtures with five losses. His team have netted one goal, as well as conceding nine over that period. A nightmare on Fulham Road for the interim boss.

The latest on Chelsea’s permanent head coach search

Earlier in the week, Fabrizio Romano revealed that the outfit’s talks with potential new Chelsea gaffer Mauricio Pochettino had almost reached climax. Discussions are said to have gone very well; the former Tottenham Hotspur head coach is expected to take over in the summer.

It also seems as though Lampard will remain in the hotseat temporarily, in spite of the awful performances. The majority of fans believe the CFC legend is in a thankless and impossible position. Nevertheless, the Blues hierarchy are thought to be content to stick by the Englishman until the end of 2022/23.
